How do you use one

Page history last edited by Nick 1 yr ago

"Wikis can be used for a variety of tasks, from personal note-taking to collaborating online, creating an internal knowledge base, assembling an online community, and managing a traditional website." (Matias 2003)

  • Used to enhance traditional classroom delivery and distance-learning programs (Espiritu 2006)
  • They are used as encouragement of peer-to-peer networking and buddy learning, central to the constructivist approach, which has made discussion forums the mainstay of Web courses in most disciplines.
  • Wikis are used as information repositories and as project management tools as the intranet of a company to communicate knowledge, ideas, and plans to others. (Espiritu 2006)
  • They are like supercharged online white boards
  • As a less rigid Content Management System
  • When your project team needs to develop a proposal together (Hemrajani 2005)
  • Plan projects, gather documents, personal to-do list, updatable grocery list (Hemrajani 2005)

Today we are going to focus on how to use them for project planning and management.

But as a pre-req for this conference we must first cruise through the muddy waters of the associated theory...
