  • features:  includes a ‘point and click’ editor, free with the option to upgrade for a fee, includes a Sandbox, selection of style and page templates, free 10MB of storage
  • help section only lists top 5 FAQ, users must search forums for questions

 

Little Wiki http://www.littlewiki.com/wiki/Home

 

  • create and name a group space within a larger wiki
  • features:  quick registration, “Rich Text” Editor, print view, add keywords and/or comments to pages, flexible storage, up to 100MB for group sites, administrators reserve right to determine acceptable limits, includes a Sandbox
  • Little Wiki is a beta site for a commercial wiki which raises the question of how the content is used, includes some ads

 

StikiPad  http://www.stikipad.com/

 

  • free, with options to upgrade for a fee
  • features:  includes an accessible guide to the wiki’s code,  is easy to navigate (edit page, lock page, previous versions, other pages all accessible from homepage), includes tagging and page sharing by email, 30MB of free storage and 500MB of bandwidth, no ads 

 

Twiki  http://twiki.org/

 

  • best suited for advanced users
  • built on Open Source Software and includes a community for software developers
  • features:  includes a list of other Twiki members, plugins, tagging, RSS feeds for different features, numerous Sandbox sites available, Twiki User’s Guide is a comprehensive help tool
  • Not easily navigable

 

Wetpaint  http://www.wetpaintcentral.com/

 

  • free wiki platform
  • features:   visible help section, tips for starting your wiki, a right sidebar menu listing Wetpaint wikis and also listed by subject/type
  • Interface is a bit cluttered

 

Wikispaces  http://www.wikispaces.com/

  • Free with options to upgrade, includes some ads
  • features:  clean interface, “Text” editor, preview pages, ‘manage space’ link lists options for organizing content in one place
