Track and manage the project

Collect Status Information
-
A wiki can make this step very easy
-
As long as people use the wiki, the project manager can easily check up on the status of each team member's tasks either through page notifications or visiting each team member's page.
Plan and Take Adaptive Action
-
Because wikis can make collecting status information easy, they can also make planning and taking adaptive action easy
-
Wikis:
-
make seeing problems with tasks or team members easy
-
allow you to plan how to deal with issues without bothering others
-
enable you to address issues remotely (like email), but can help you keep all project information in one spot (by addressing issues on the wiki).
-
IMPORTANT NOTE: depending on the issue, you may want to address it via phone or face-to-face. Hiding behind technology isn't cool. Dealing with an issue poorly could kill morale in general and/or wiki buy-in.

Close out the Project
-
Make sure that everything you did is well documented, including team members' ideas about how to improve the process to make things easier for yourself the next time you have to manage a project.
-
A wiki is a perfect way to tackle this important task, too.
-
If you've been saving all of your work on the wiki from the beginning of the project on, in the end, you have an incredibly complete project file that you can backup and export.
-
If you don't have time to meet with your team to talk about best practices for the future, you could ask team members to add contructive criticism about the project to their pages. Then, you can compile everything into a final report online and ask the team to review it.
