“The simplest online database that could possibly work.”
–Ward Cunningham, creator of the first WikiWikiWeb in 1995 (quoted in Matias 2003)
What is a wiki?
A wiki is a piece of server software that allows users to create and update webpages easily and rapidly either through a hosted site on the Internet or on the company intranet. Since the pages are posted in a central location, anyone with access can log on and start editing. Even better, a team of employees can collaborate on a single document or spreadsheet, trading ideas and criticisms, adding new features and images—without having to send documents and attachments back and forth. (Dahl 2006)

Why use a wiki?
Wikis can range from providing an efficient tool for setting up an individual website for the ‘non-tech savvy’ individual or providing an open source community for developers. The uses of wikis are numerous.

- course wikis

Store, organize, share

- manage and share policies, resources, and documents (and other files)
- build a professional portfolio
